Result: 4-1
Yet again another sterling performance on Saturday that deservedly keeps alive our LOB Cup aspirations this season. I can honestly say that that was some of the best football I've been involved with during my time with the 3rd XI, as I continue to be astounded by the strength in depth we have in this squad. Every man played his part on Saturday, as we dominated possession, keeping the ball with precision passing, creating chance after chance and scoring 4 equally good goals. I was so impressed by our movement off the ball, every man offering an option, communicating clearly, wanting the ball and it didn't surprise me when we went 1-0 ahead through a superb goal created by a bullish run from Mark Jackson, who then delivered a perfectly weighted cross for Kibbs to smash home on the volley. Our second was similarly awesome, this time finished off with style by the right foot of James Moss and we went in at half time having played some quite beautiful football, 2-0 ahead, grinning like cheshire cats. Inevitably, after yet another lecture from the captain about keeping a clean sheet, we conceded quite quickly after the restart but once again did not let this affect us. Instead, we ploughed forward and instantly regained our two goal advantage, this time Mark Jackson slotting home from another pitch perfect cross. Boom. 3-1. Sexy time. But we didn't stop there. Intent on sending London's finest home with their tails between their legs, we continued to dominate possession and push forward and were rightfully rewarded with our fourth of the afternoon when John Jackson chipped the keeper with his left foot with 15 minutes remaining to put the fixture beyond any doubt.
